Gnocchi alla Romana

I have a new flatmate, Camilla, from Italy. She’s absolutely lovely. To illustrate my point, I give you this:


Gnocchi alla Romana, which Camilla cooked for dinner the other night. Unlike potato gnocchi, these are made with semolina. These things are packed with Parmigiano and then topped with butter and more cheese and popped under the grill. Other ingredients are milk, more butter, egg yolks and salt. Healthy? Not so much. Comforting? Definitely. I think these are possibly the ultimate comfort food, and perfect for the less-than-springlike weather we’ve been experiencing lately.
